So sorry for ghosting, but seriously, where did February go?

I blinked, and suddenly, here we are, stepping into March like it’s a brand-new season (which, in my book, it totally is). The days are getting longer, the sun is flirting with us, and that undeniable urge to open the windows and deep-clean everything is creeping in.

Yep, it’s officially Spring Cleaning Season!

But let’s be real: Spring cleaning as a mom is basically an Olympic event. You start decluttering one closet, and before you know it, you’re knee-deep in sentimental baby clothes, reminiscing over tiny onesies and wondering how time flies faster than laundry piles. But fear not, because I have hacks, tricks, and the ultimate guide to freshening up your home - without losing your sanity.

The "One-Room-a-Day" Cleaning Method for Busy Moms

Confession: I used to be the kind of person who thought I could tackle an entire house in one weekend. Oh, sweet, naive past me. I now follow the One-Room-a-Day method - because let’s be honest, life (and snack breaks) happen. Instead of burning out, I assign one room per day and set a timer for 30 minutes. It’s like speed dating, but with cleaning supplies.

Pro Tip: Start with the room that stresses you out the most (I’m looking at you, playroom) and end with something easy, like the bathroom or laundry room. That way, you build momentum and finish strong!

How to Get Kids Involved in Spring Cleaning (Without Complaints!)

I used to think getting kids to clean was impossible - until I discovered the magic of trickery.

  1. Turn it into a game – Set a timer and challenge them to see who can pick up the most toys in two minutes (spoiler: you always win).
  2. Play “House Hunters” – Give them a basket and tell them to find items they no longer use. (Suddenly, my kids are Marie Kondo.)
  3. Bribe - I mean, incentivize – A little reward never hurt anyone. A trip to the park or extra screen time for a job well done? Worth it.

Best Non-Toxic & DIY Cleaning Products

I used to buy every cleaning product under the sun until I realized I could make my own for a fraction of the cost - and without the harsh chemicals. Here are my ride-or-die, non-toxic cleaning hacks:

  • DIY All-Purpose Cleaner: 1 cup white vinegar + 1 cup water + a few drops of essential oil (lemon or lavender for that luxury vibe).
  • Glass & Mirror Cleaner: Equal parts vinegar and water (bonus: no streaks!).
  • Carpet Refresher: Sprinkle baking soda over the carpet, let it sit, then vacuum. (Also works wonders for the mysterious odor in the car.)

Decluttering Tips – What to Toss, Donate, or Store Away

Decluttering is emotional. (I still have my firstborn’s hospital bracelet tucked away like it’s the Hope Diamond.) But here’s my no-nonsense approach:

  • Toss it if it’s broken, stained, or missing a piece you swore you’d find one day (you won’t).
  • Donate it if it’s in good condition but no longer useful to your family (kids outgrow stuff at lightning speed!).
  • Store it if it’s sentimental but doesn’t need to be front and center. (Labeling storage bins = a mom’s love language.)

How to Organize Closets for the Changing Seasons

Seasonal closet swaps used to be my personal nightmare - until I figured out The System.

  1. Use clear bins for out-of-season clothes and LABEL them. “Miscellaneous” is not a category, friends.
  2. Rotate by accessibility – Keep everyday clothes at eye level and seasonal items higher up.
  3. Declutter as you go – If you wouldn’t buy it again, don’t keep it. (Brutal, but effective.)

Spring Cleaning Checklist

If you love a good checklist (because honestly, who doesn’t?), I’ve got you covered. I made a Spring Cleaning Checklist that covers decluttering, deep cleaning, and everything in between.

Decluttering Tasks: ☐ Go through closets - donate, toss, or store seasonal clothes ☐ Declutter kids' toys - sort into keep, donate, or discard piles ☐ Sort through kitchen cabinets - discard expired items, organize pantry ☐ Purge old paperwork - shred unneeded documents ☐ Declutter entryway - organize shoes, coats, and accessories ☐ Check and tidy up junk drawer(s)

Deep Cleaning Tasks: ☐ Dust and wipe down all surfaces (tables, shelves, baseboards) ☐ Vacuum and mop floors ☐ Clean windows and mirrors ☐ Wash bedding, pillow covers, and curtains ☐ Scrub kitchen appliances (microwave, oven, refrigerator) ☐ Deep clean bathrooms - scrub tub, sink, toilet, and grout ☐ Vacuum upholstery and refresh carpets with baking soda

Organizing Tasks: ☐ Rotate seasonal clothes and store winter gear ☐ Organize pantry and label food containers ☐ Sort through kids' artwork and school papers ☐ Tidy up the garage or storage spaces ☐ Create or refresh a household command center ☐ Set up a donation box for ongoing decluttering

Stick it on the fridge, cross things off, and bask in that accomplishment glow. (Pro tip: Reward yourself with fancy coffee once it's done.)

Spring cleaning doesn’t have to feel like an impossible mission. A little planning, a few clever tricks, and maybe a glass of wine at the end of the day (highly recommended) make all the difference.

Here’s to a fresh start, a clutter-free home, and a season full of sunshine! ☀️✨Did I miss your favorite cleaning hack? Share it below - I’m always on the lookout for ways to make cleaning less of a chore!
