Hello, Fabulous Mamas! đ
Can you believe it? The air is getting crisper, pumpkin spice is everywhere, and your summer dresses are making their final curtain call for the year. Fall is creeping in, and while that means the excitement of layered outfits and cozy boots, it also means a whole new set of demands on our time. With the kids going back to school and the holidays lurking around the corner, self-care can easily slip down to the bottom of our priority list. But hold up! Weâre not going to let that happen this year. Letâs talk about how we can own this fall season with some serious self-care that aligns with the changing weather and, of course, our unending list of mom duties.
Letâs start with skincare. We all know that as the temperatures drop, our skin can go from dewy goddess to Sahara desert real quick. I remember one October morning when I looked in the mirror and thought, "Did I just age five years overnight?" Nope, just forgot to switch out my moisturizer. Classic mom move.Â
To avoid that little horror story, letâs talk routines. If youâre anything like me, your skincare routine is as precious as your first cup of coffee in the morning. But as fall rolls in, itâs time to tweak things up. Think richer, more hydrating creams. Your lightweight summer lotion might have been great under the hot sun, but now, itâs time to bring in the big gunsâsomething with hyaluronic acid or ceramides to keep that moisture locked in.
And donât forget about your lips! I learned the hard way that fall can turn your perfect pout into a chapped mess. Keep a nourishing lip balm within armâs reach, and for those chilly mornings, a little exfoliation with a homemade sugar scrub can do wonders. (Bonus: it tastes good, too!)
Your bedtime ritual is just as important, you need to learn to unwind like a pro. Letâs be honestâby the time we finally get the kids down, weâre exhausted. But Iâm here to tell you that this is your time, Mama. Fall is the perfect season to start a calming bedtime ritual that helps you unwind and get some quality sleep. My personal go-to? A hot cup of chamomile tea, a couple of chapters of a juicy novel, and a luxe, lavender-scented pillow spray.
But hereâs the real game-changer: Iâve started making my bedroom a tech-free zone after 9 PM. No scrolling through Instagram, no emails, nothing. Itâs like a mini-vacation every night. Sure, I had a bit of FOMO at first, but when you realize how much better you sleep, you wonât even miss the late-night TikTok rabbit holes.
And letâs talk PJs. This fall, treat yourself to a new set of comfy, chic pajamas. Itâs a small thing, but slipping into something soft and stylish can seriously elevate your mood. Plus, itâs one of the few outfits thatâs all about youâno sippy cups or sticky fingers involved.
You know how the kiddos are all about their fall crafts and Halloween costumes? Well, why shouldnât we have a little fun, too? Embrace the fall aesthetic in your self-care routine. Iâm talking pumpkin-scented candles, a cozy new throw for your favorite reading chair, or even switching up your nail polish to a warm, autumnal hue. Itâs these little touches that can make all the difference.
One of my favorite traditions is to set up a little âme cornerâ in the living room, complete with a plush blanket, a few magazines, and my favorite fall-scented candle. Itâs my personal oasis, and when the chaos of the day finally settles, itâs where I go to recharge.
Speaking of fall scents, let me leave you with this cautionary tale. Last year, I decided to DIY a pumpkin spice face mask because I was feeling that extra. I found this âamazingâ recipe online, and of course, being the crafty mom I am, I had all the ingredientsâcanned pumpkin, honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg.Â
Well, about ten minutes after I slathered it on, I started to feel a bit tingly. âThis is just the mask working its magic,â I told myself. But when my husband walked in, took one look at me, and said, âWhy is your face so red?â I knew something had gone terribly wrong. Long story short, I ended up with a mild allergic reaction and spent the rest of the evening icing my face while Googling âhow to calm down irritated skin.â Lesson learned: sometimes itâs better to stick with the professionals.Â
Remember whatever you do - fall in love with your routine. As the leaves change and the days grow shorter, letâs make a pact to keep our self-care game strong. Whether itâs updating your skincare routine, creating a soothing bedtime ritual, or simply indulging in a few fall-themed luxuries, remember that taking care of yourself isnât just a luxuryâitâs a necessity.Â
So hereâs to a season of self-care thatâs as stylish and fabulous as you are, Mama. And hey, if you find a pumpkin spice face mask that doesnât turn your face into a tomato, let me know. Until then, keep rocking that mom life with confidence and grace. đ
